Material Handling

Whether the process involves batch, continuous or batch-to-continuous process steps, loading raw materials, receiving discharged finished products and transfer of in-process material from one stage of production to the next in an efficient manner are critical to obtaining a high quality final product.

Blentech manufactures a wide range of ancillary devices designed to answer the challenges of material handling. We customize each of these machines so that they seamless integrate with the other components of the processing line for a true turnkey system solution.

Tilt Dumpers and High Lift Dumpers

Blentech dumpers are manufactured for extreme duty processing environments and have a reputation for durability and low maintenance costs. Each machine is designed to satisfy the application-specific dump height and related space constraints. Tilt dumpers can dump to height of 72-inches. High-lift dumpers raise the container prior to dumping

Screw Augers and Storage Loaders

Incline screw augers are a common means for loading batch and continuous processing equipment. Storage loaders combine a hopper system with the auger allowing materials to be loaded in discrete batches while being transferred continuously. Blentech engineers have also applied screw conveyance techniques to solve other applications such as horizontal, shuttling screw augers for disbursing ground meat material across multiple processing lines.

Belt Conveyors

Belt conveyors are the preferred solution for handling raw materials and finished products that are too fragile to be moved by a screw auger. Additional functionality can be incorporated into a belt conveyor system such as particulate dewatering and draining of cooking liquid, steam blanching, or cooling via chilled water delusion or chilled forced air.

Surge Hoppers

Blentech manufactures agitated surge hoppers to keep slurries and products with particulate and liquid phases, such as taco meat or soups, in homogeneous suspension ahead of filling and packaging equipment. Hoppers are sized to balance the process rate of the upstream processing equipment with that of the packaging system. Optional steam/hot water jacket maintains product temperature prior to filling.

Pump Feeders

Many products can be transferred via positive displacement pump, however their flow and viscosity characteristics are such that they cannot be consistently drawn into the pump by gravity alone. The pump cannot maintain its prime and will not pump material consistently at the desired rate - with cavitation resulting in the most extreme cases.

Blentech builds single and twin screw pump feeders to handle the most viscous materials - such as ground meat, peanut butter, cheese - force-feeding the pump to ensure proper head pressure at the pump inlet for processing rates from 2,000-lb/hr to 50,000-lb/hr.

Controls and Metering

Blentech is adept at integrating material handling equipment into the control philosophy of an overall PLC-based system operating control solution.

Including an optional variable frequency controller for the device motor enables metering feeding of materials when combined with appropriate PLC control. Outfitting certain material handling equipment with optional load cells and synchronizing with PLC controller allows for automated gain-in-weight/loss-in-weight loading and discharge - as well as metered feeding.
